The Superbowl was impacted by a lighting power outage. They even blamed it on the result! Just shows how important electricians are!
Do you know what to do when you lose power?
Do you have a torch so you can check your fuse board or RCD? If not place one nearby ASAP.
If you have one there already because your fuse board is often failing, you should consider replacing it with a modern consumer unit. If so look at this article on the new Residual Circuit Devices.
NEW ORLEANS — It was a Super Bowl full of story lines, but an unexpected one took over Super Bowl 47.
The Baltimore Ravens beat the San Francisco 49ers 34-31 in a game that was marred by a power outage that forced a 34-minute delay and seemed to change the direction that the game was headed.
Baltimore led San Francisco 21-6 at halftime thanks to three touchdown passes from quarterback Joe Flacco. Then Jacoby Jones took back the opening kickoff of the second half a Super Bowl-record 108 yards to give the Ravens a 28-6 lead. But on the ensuing drive, the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans suffered a power outage that took out half the lights and forced a long delay that seemed to zap the Ravens momentum.
